Google Similar Images Search

similarimages

Following on from a post I made a couple of weeks ago, it appears Google is hard at work adding more features to it's image search.

Their latest addition, which is still in labs, is Similar Images.

If you were, for example, to do a search for 'jaguar', you would get image results of cars and jaguar cats. You can then select the 'Similar images' option below a result to show images that are similar in content to that image.

It works very well and could come in handy if you need to find a bigger version of a specific image.

Give it a try.

Interactive Video Object Manipulation

It appears Adobe Labs have been developing a new way to manipulate video.

"This demo illustrates our research to bring interactivity to video editing: Our system analyzes videos using computer vision techniques, enabling interactive annotation, browsing, and even drag-and-drop composition of new still images using video footage."

Check out the demo here.

jParallax

While undertaking some late night internet browsing I came across an interesting jQuery plugin called jParallax.

The plugin's website describes it best.

"Parallax turns a selected element into a 'window', or viewport, and all its children into absolutely positioned layers that can be seen through the viewport. These layers move in response to the mouse, and, depending on their dimensions (and options for layer initialisation), they move by different amounts, in a parallaxy kind of way."

Seeing is definately believing with this plugin, so head on over to their website and see it in action.
